NW Truffle Dogs

The Oregon Truffle Festival leads in promoting the exclusive use of truffle dogs to ensure harvest of the highest quality truffles while preventing the environmental harm caused by raking. NW Truffle Dogs has partnered with the Oregon Truffle Festival to produce the Truffle Dog Training Seminar held at the Festival each January, and in the development of standards for certification of truffles harvested by trained truffle dogs.

MycoPilot - Ground School

ImageThis program includes four hours of private training and one foray. Classes are typically one hour per week unless other arrangements are made. By the end of the course your K9 will be able to locate truffles in a scent container in the field. You will also be able to take home training aids and instructions to keep making progress on your own.

Ground School is the perfect program for the experienced trainer/handler who just needs a little help getting started with scent training. Dogs should be at least six months old prior to the start of training and have basic obedience skills. Puppies in particular benefit from this head-start program. Training is fun and easy, and most practice can be accomplished around the house.
