Student Forays

Truffle Clinics
These events allow prospective students the opportunity to speak with regional academic mycology experts on how and where to find truffles in our region, and to have a certified truffle dog trainer give a frank evaluation of the student’s dog for suitability in truffle detection before making an investment in training. Our Training Programs
Ground School
This is a four hour program that introduces dogs and their handlers to truffle scent work, teaching the dog to find truffle scent and reliably indicate to the handler (alert) when that scent is located. Register Now
Learned skills will include;
- Conditioning dog to truffle scent
- Teaching dog a trained “alert”
- Confirming reliable “alert” upon target scent location
Flight School
This is an eight hour program that takes dog and handler from introduction to truffle scent through finding wild truffles in their natural environment. Learned skills will include;
- Conditioning dog to truffle scent
- Teaching a trained “alert”
- Confirming reliable “alert” upon target scent location
- Ability to work in the presence of heavy distraction
- Ability to reliably locate and alert on wild truffles in their native environment
